Our History
CG United Insurance Ltd. began operations on January 1st, 1977, having been incorporated in Bridgetown, Barbados on September 30th, 1976. The new company amalgamated the former agencies of the Royal Co., Guardian Royal Exchange and the Sun Alliance. Barbados’ then largest conglomerate Massy (Barbados) Limited became the major shareholder and today, CG United Insurance is a member of the Coralisle Group Ltd.
Our company has a long, robust history, which began in 1977 as United Insurance Company Limited. Since then, we have continued to adopt an innovative approach to insurance – one backed by diversification, financial strength and expertise in general insurance.
By 2003, United Insurance had successfully expanded operations into 15 Caribbean territories including the Dutch Caribbean.
As we continued to grow to meet our customers ever-changing needs, the company experienced a name change in 2014 as Neal & Massy created a new corporate and brand identity for all Companies in the Neal and Massy Group.
Massy United Insurance Ltd. becomes CG United Insurance Ltd., a member of the Coralisle Group Ltd. (CG). CG is a Bermuda-based holding company for the Coralisle Group of Companies (the Group), which has commercial operations in Bermuda and 20 jurisdictions across the Caribbean. The Group comprises independently incorporated companies offering property and casualty insurance, employee benefits for pensions and health, life assurance and personal investment products.
Although our name is new, our people-first mission remains the same.
Today, CG United Insurance continues to provide comprehensive coverage as one of the leading general insurance companies in the region.
