Who is CG United?

CG United Insurance Ltd. (formerly Massy United Insurance Ltd.) Corporate Structure

CG United is incorporated under the provisions of the Companies Act Chapter 308 of the Laws of Barbados and having its registered office located at United Insurance Centre, Lower Broad Street, Bridgetown, Barbados. The company is registered as an External Company in Trinidad and Tobago with its principal place of business located at 2nd Floor Princes Court, 13-17 Keate Street, Port of Spain, Trinidad. CG United Insurance Ltd. is registered as a general insurer under the former Insurance Act, Chapter 84:01 of Trinidad and Tobago and has been operating in Trinidad and Tobago since 1983.

Coralisle Group

CG United is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Coralisle Group Ltd. and a member of the Coralisle Group of companies. Coralisle Group (CG) is a Bermuda-based company with operations throughout the Caribbean, serving 20 countries in the region.

Amended Insurance Act

The new Insurance Act, 2018 (as amended) of the laws of Trinidad & Tobago (the “Act”) came into effect on January 1, 2021., Under the Act, insurance business could only be conducted through entities incorporated in Trinidad & Tobago. To achieve compliance with the Act, existing foreign insurers were mandated to complete their reorganizations by June 30, 2023. CG United, a Barbadian company registered as an External Company in Trinidad, was considered a foreign insurer and was therefore required to reorganize its operations in Trinidad and Tobago.

CG United Reorganisation

In order to comply with the Act and to continue to carry on insurance business in Trinidad and Tobago, CG United has incorporated a new company in Trinidad and Tobago, CG United Insurance TT Ltd.. CG United Insurance TT Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of CG United. 

Having had its reorganization approved by both the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago and the Minister of Finance, CG United Insurance Ltd. transferred its undertakings in Trinidad and Tobago to CG United Insurance TT Ltd with effect from January 31, 2023. As a result, as of January 31, 2023, CG United Insurance TT Ltd. assumed and took responsibility for all CG United Insurance Ltd.’s policies in force in Trinidad and Tobago on that date. This reorganisation will not impact the policy rates, terms and conditions, coverage and benefits, service or the administration of policies.
